In 2016 we celebrated our 11th year in the Englishman's Bed and Breakfast, formally the historic Archibald-Adams House built in 1793. This Federal-style home was renovated and restored to museum quality in the 1990s. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and today offers a unique lodging experience.
The Englishman’s B&B has a beautiful setting on the bank of the Narraguagus River in the tidewater village of Cherryfield, Maine. At the front of the house is a formally laid out perennial flower garden with classical urns. North of the house and semi-circular driveway is a screened-in gazebo and a vegetable garden.
The Englishman's Bed and Breakfast offers a taste of 18th Century Maine architecture with all the comforts of home. We have three guest rooms, two of which are in the main house - the Estate Room and the River Room. These rooms and associated bathrooms can be combined as a Private Suite.
Our third guest room is the Carriage House - a self-contained building accessed from our deck. It includes a kitchenette, bathroom with shower, dining area and TV/DVD.

Your hosts, Peter and Kathy Winham, first met in York, England on an archaeological excavation. Both have worked on many an excavation in England, Europe and the USA. Peter is the Englishman and worked as a professional archaeologist in South Dakota for 24 years. Kathy grew up in several of the Northeastern and New England states. She attended Queens University in Ontario, Canada, and has also worked in archaeology and picture framing. We have two married sons, and a grandson, in different states.
We are also pleased to serve and sell our own brand of Estate quality loose teas, as well as quality tea bags and accessories for
brewing tea. "Teas of Cherryfield"
is our second home-based business.
The B&B is surrounded on two sides with a deck/veranda, where guests can sit, relax and enjoy the changing views of the Narraguagas River. Guests may also use the screened-in Gazebo to read, sip wine or beer and avoid any annoying insects!
