Why hike Downeast Maine? The scenery is breathtaking - from the coastal cliffs to the rugged mountaintops; from the forests to the lakes and rivers - there is endless variety. Another major reason to visit is the peace and quiet. These trails are definitely not overrun with other hikers and tourists - you get to experience the unadulterated outdoors.
Almost all of the trails listed below are within an hour's drive of our bed and breakfast. A number have been featured in the Bangor Daily News "1-minute hike" series which presents a short video of the trail.
